What's My Motivation?

I recently ran workshops with young people 14+ to write an interactive theatre piece exploring what gets in the way of feeling in control of your destiny.  The project was supported by Norfolk & Norwich Festival and brings together my experiences of Positive Pscyhology coaching and educational drama.  This phase of What's My Motivation? culminated in a sharing at West Suffolk College,11 July 2025.

What We Sow

What We Sow was a storytelling project commissioned by Jubilant! - a youth arts festival in Stowmarket. I worked alongside  Year 10 Debenham High School pupils exploring how much of our identity is rooted in our family stories, and to think about what might be passed on to future generations.  Over a series of workshops, I developing the group’s storytelling skills, culminating in two performances at the John Peel Centre.

Something Inside So Strong

A musical written in collaboration with young people at The Arcola Theatre, based on songwriter-activist Labi Siffre's songs.  As well as working for youth theatre groups of casts sized 12 to 30, it also works for a professional cast of c12 actor-musicians.  Click here for more information and get in touch if you're interesting in producing it.​

Wot? No Fish!!

My signature piece.  It's been critically-acclaimed, won me the Brian Way Playwrighting Award and toured across the globe.  It's a solo show, based on the beautiful artwork of my Great-uncle Ab.

Written and performed by Nick Cassenbaum, I was director and dramaturg of this show, now published with my introduction telling the story of how we made it.  The show toured across the UK and the States and its final performance was May 2025 at Soho Theatre in London.
