No. Beginners are very welcome, as are those returning after years away.

What if I’m nervous?

That’s completely normal. Many people feel that way at first.
The sessions are designed to ease people in gradually, in a supportive and well-structured environment.

What happens in a typical session?

Sessions are practical and varied. You’ll take part in warm-ups, improvisation, and short scene work, along with exercises to build confidence, presence and communication.

What might I get out of the course?

People come for different reasons, and often find more than they expected.Most say they want to go out of their comfort zone, but in a supportive environment.For some, it’s a chance to meet others and do something creative in a relaxed setting. For others, it helps build confidence, presence and communication skills that carry over into everyday life and work.Many people find it helps unlock a sense of spontaneity and playfulness that can get lost in adult life.For those who are interested, it can also be a stepping stone into more advanced acting work.

What is my commitment?

Attendance at every session is encouraged.  We frequently work on scenes in pairs and small groups, so absence affects your fellow students.Classes build on previous practical learning.  Although you'll be offered supplementary learning resources, with drama there is no substitute for in-person learning.
Classes start promptly at 7:30, so please do your best to arrivew in good time.
Please send apologies for absence and lateness as far in advance of a class as possible to help your teacher plan the session.

Will I have to perform on my own?

No one will be pushed into unnecessary exposure.
The work is participatory, but carefully structured so you can build confidence at your own pace.

Is this like traditional amateur dramatics?

Not really.
There are no auditions and no competing for roles. The focus is on developing skills and working together as an ensemble.

Is there parking?

Yes.  There's ample free parking on site.

What is the refund policy?

Accepted Answer

The £90 deposit is non-refundable unless the course does not go ahead. The remaining balance must be paid before the course begins.
If life gets in the way and you find you cannot attend the classes, you can apply for a discretionary refund.
