Facilitation

I have over forty years experience using drama and other creative techniques in diverse settings.  I tailor my approach to your context, whether that be a school, a community setting, or a business.  Amongst the techniques I use are Forum Theatre, working in-role, Open Space, storytelling, Positive Psychology coaching technqiues, and creating participatory performance.

Some examples

Currently
What's My Motivation?

I'm working with young adults in East Anglia to create an interactive theatre experience bringing together drama techniques with Positive Psychology.

Jubilant!

Using my solo show Wot? No Fish!! as an inspiration, I'm working with the Food Museum in Stowmarket and Debenham High School to create a storytelling installation on the theme of 'roots' for the Jubilant! Festival in June 2025

Over the years
In Colleges and Universities
As a lecturer, I have developed ways to make all my teaching interactive and consistently maintained first-rate feedback from learners and colleagues.  I have designed and delivered many curricula, recently creating a pioneering new course - From Surviving to Thriving - supporting Year 1 students with their transition into university life.  This proved highly effective in terms of student retention.  I have taught a range of communication, facilitation and theatre skills, as well as exploring a range of topics using drama as a learning medium
Community Learning
I have run numerous workshops using drama to explore specific topics, including work with refugee and asylum seekers, people in the criminal justice system, and those experiencing homelessness.
Participatory Theatre
I have co-created many shows with young people and communities with organisations such as London Bubble, Theatre Royal Stratford East, Hoxton Hall, LEAP and, more recently, a new youth musical at The Arcola - Something Inside So Strong - based on the songs of Labi Siffre.
For your organisation
Open Space
Open Space is a way of hosting meetings where participants set the agenda, lead the discussions, and explore what matters most to them — making it highly engaging, relevant, and surprisingly productive.  I used this effectively as CEO of The Orpheus Centre to bring together the disabled young adults who were our students; our care, housing, learning and admin staff; our volunteers; and our board.
Disability Awareness Workshops
These are tailored to your context and are grounded in my personal experience of being disabled.  Recently, I ran annual workshops for Goldsmiths' PGCE students to support their understanding of SEND and an oversubscribed MA Disability Theatres course that received the highest commendations from students.
Organisational Development

I will collaborate with you to design learning that benefits your strategic and business development.  In 2024, for example, I ran an interactive research workshop with teachers, young disabled people and the workforce at A New Direction as part of my consultancy on their I Am Project to create a Youth Advisory Board.
